At the Ottoman Bank Museum: Plenty of Fantasy No Money The exhibition continues...
As a result of its popularity with visitors, the special exhibition, "Plenty of Fantasy No Money- Caricatures of an Economy in Debt (1874-1954)", has been extended through March 15. Conceived and organized by the Museum, the exhibition, which so far has attracted 2,600 visitors, presents an entertaining narrative of the period starting just before the 1876 Constitution, up to 1954, when the last installment of the Ottoman debt was settled. Caricatures historian, Turgut Çeviker, scanned the archives for the exhibition curated by caricaturists Behiç Ak and Tan Oral, the display concept was designed by Bülent Erkmen and Prof. Suat Doğruel was the project's economic consultant. The exhibition showcases close to 200 caricatures and drawings, which humorously chronicle the main economic events of an 80 year period and prompt us to step back and see the lighter side of today's issues as well. The companion book, published in conjunction with the exhibit, can be obtained from the Museum at a 25% discount on the 25,000,000 T.L. bookstore retail price. ![]() |
