At the Ottoman Bank Museum, a lecture on Vallaury, the historic building's architect
Speaking this month at the Ottoman Bank Museum Architecture Talks, is Assoc. Prof. Cengis Can, from the Department of Restoration of the School of Architecture at Yıldız Technical University. At the lecture scheduled for Wednesday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m., Can will present Alexandre Vallaury, an Istanbul-born Levantine of Italian origins and the
architect of the historic building which today houses the Ottoman Bank Museum.
The discussion will focus on Vallaury's contributions to Istanbul's architectural identity at the end of the 19th century, his conceptions of design, how his projects related to the existing milieu, and his innovations in the techniques and materials used.
