At the Ottoman Bank Museum in February: 3 Lectures, 4 Films and 1 Exhibition
The Ottoman Bank Museum enters 2004 with a robust program of events and lectures.The City Tours, Architecture Talks and Istanbul Lectures series, continue, as previously, on Wednesdays, at 6:30 p.m. On February 11, Ali Doruk discusses how 19th century buildings enrich Istanbul's urban fabric, on February 18, Hayri Fehmi Yılmaz takes you on a personal tour of Rhodes and on February 25, Prof. Murat Belge will examine the cosmopolitan nature of Istanbul with respect to nation-state economy. Since January 2, the Museum now also boasts a movie theater with a seating capacity of 46. Screenings are scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays. This February, our theme is "cities" with Scorsese's New York New York, Fellini's Roma, Louis Malle's Atlantic City, and Wim Wender's Der Himmel über Berlin. The film program is prepared in collaboration with TÜRSAK (the Turkish Cinema and Audiovisual Cultural Foundation). Tickets prices are; full: 6,000,000 TL, discounted 4,000,000 TL. The exhibition Plenty of Fantasy No Money - Caricatures of an Economy in Debt (1874- 1954) can be viewed at the Museum through February 15.
