Architecture Talks at the Ottoman Bank Museum Galata and Pera 1900/2000
"New Designs in Pera"

Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 6:30 p.m., architect Han Tümertekin will give a lecture, illustrated through drawings, on two of his Pera projects, carried out roughly ten years apart. Han Tümertekin will present Bilpera - the showroom and office space he designed for the boutique Bil's -- and Robinson Bookshop, the bookstore he created in Galata, sharing with us the secret to designing spaces that both challenge time and are street and people friendly in the rapidly changing urban landscape of Pera.

Tümertekin, who in both his Bilpera and Robinson Bookshop projects, incorporated new, functional spaces into the shell of old buildings, will discuss how time affects design and demonstrate- with his own projects - how the continually changing public spaces of Pera can be integrated into the existing urban fabric.

Since May, the Voyvoda Street Architecture Talks have focused on different perspectives to the topic "Galata and Pera 1900/2000," presented by various scholars and architects. A workshop, reuniting lecturers and students for further discussion, will be organized as well, at the end of the series.
