The City Tours Series Begins At the Ottoman Bank Museum
In order to integrate the diversity of the material displayed in the Ottoman Bank Museum into their programs and events, the Voyvoda Street Lectures Series initiated the Voyvoda Street Architecture Talks at the beginning of this month and now introduces another program: the Voyvoda Street City Tours. The Voyvoda Street City Tours will be presented, in collaboration with the Foundation for the Development of Cultural Awareness and Fest Travel, under the heading "A Tour of a City: on the Trail of Yesterday's Ottoman Bank Branches". Throughout the year, the talks will focus successively on Baghdad, Beirut, Tehran, Jerusalem, Damascus, Cairo, Salonika and Nicosia. Jerusalem, a "City of Contradictions," at the Ottoman Bank Museum Our first speaker at the Voyvoda Street City Tours, professional guide Yıldırım Büktel, will present Jerusalem, a city of conflicts throughout the ages, and a mosaic of religions, races, cultures and languages, on Wednesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. Museum visitors will hear stories of Jerusalem and view slides of the sights including, the Tomb of King David, Al Aqsa Mosque, the Wailing Wall, the Via Dolorosa and the Mount of Olives with its spectacular vista over the city.
